Church yesterday was great.

Worship was from the heart and the team did great.

Still praying and looking for a worship leader.

Still looking for a permanate place in Charlotte for church.

Excited about our 2nd preview service at our Cherryville location (Feb 19th)

Pumped about growing our homeless outreach bigger (Outreach team is amazing)

Pumped about our mission effort in Honduras (Roatan)

Pumped about the food ministry in Cherryville (You guys rock)

Praying that our body gets the invite addiction to the point they invite their enemies to church

Depressed because deer season is over (had to throw that in)

My feet are cold right now and I should probably have socks on.

Wondering what to have for lunch on a Monday that is not healthy for me

Finally I’m looking forward to the bible study I teach at Ruth’s Chris on Tuesday’s

Okay, okay…one more thing! One of my pet peeves. (men that wear skinny jeans) PLEASE STOP!

Cherryville Preview Services

Beginning January 22, 2012 Legacy Church will begin preview services in the town of Cherryville. We have secured the Cherryville Little Theater and to say we are excited would be an understatement.

We will begin service at 5:30 with worship and then the message will follow.

At present there are many families from Cherryville traveling all the way to Charlotte each Sunday and they have been extremely faithful in their attendance. It is this faithfulness that has giving birth to the preview services which we believe God will birth into a new church campus meeting eventually on Sunday mornings.

If you live in Cherryville, or the surrounding area, and have been looking for a church home or just something different, we would love to have you visit us in January, February and March for the first three preview services and experience the Legacy difference.

10 things you might not know about me

1. I was once arrested at Myrtle Beach and left by my friends for many hours while they had pizza before they picked me up.
2. I have many tattoos and yes I will be getting more.
3. I still love reading the bible just for me and not Just for finding a sermon. (But it’s not easy)
4. I love playing the drums in my bedroom and closing my eyes and remembering the 80′s…just saying.
5. I constantly think about the second coming of Christ, when all things will be set right once and for all! Yeah come on!
6. I desperately want to clean my garage but it’s just too overwhelming. Not to mention, if I cleaned it up I’m sure I couldn’t find anything.
7. I’m not afraid of man or beast but let me see a little mouse and I’ll go girl on you big time.
8. I love to shout random words and phrases while shopping with my kids. They hate it! I love it!
9. I love sushi so much I could eat it almost everyday. (Send me gift certificates for sushi if you like)
10. I truly miss surfing California waves! The East Coast has nothing!!!

My Resignation and New Beginning

Below you will find the letter written from 2xsalt concerning my resignation as pastor.
Below the letter you will find my response and next steps.

Dear 2xSalt/Salt Mine Body,
It is with sadness that I notify you that Pastor Steve Wright has submitted his resignation as the lead pastor for 2xSalt and the Salt Mine Church. I respectfully accepted his resignation effective immediately as of Sunday, September 4, 2011.

I want to thank Steve and Amy for their leadership, friendship, and season of service to our ministry and church over the past four years. I look forward to supporting and encouraging them and their family as the Lord leads and directs their call to impact His Kingdom.

Programs and services at 2xSalt and the Salt Mine will continue on Wednesday and Sunday at the regularly scheduled time and place at Jackson Park Ministries. Jackson Park is located at 5415 Airport Drive, Charlotte. Wednesday gathering is from 6:30- 7:30pm followed by homeless feeding uptown Charlotte around 7:45pm; Sunday service begins at 11:00am.

As the founder of 2xSalt and the Salt Mine Church and on behalf of our leadership team of Pastor Daryl Sutherland, Alan Barnes, Reggie Nious, Rodney Scott, and Ria Varnell, I ask for your prayers and continued support. With the recent damage to our building we are obviously facing many challenges, and although such disruption appears chaotic and untimely, God’s timing is always perfect.

We will continue to seek the Lord’s counsel as we rebuild and, restore the 2xSalt ministry, and move forward in obedience to Him.

Dear 2xsalt/Salt Mine Church/Friends/Family,
After much prayer and with a peaceful heart I offered my resignation to 2xsalt/The Salt Mine Church. It was accepted Sunday, September 4, 2011. The call to pastor in Charlotte still burns in our hearts and with the leading of God, Amy and I will continue to move forward with the direction the Lord has given us.

The name of our church will be Legacy Church Charlotte and will launch as soon as I find a meeting place. I hope to secure a place as early as Sunday the 11th of September. If you would like more information you can send me an email at legacyleadpastor@gmail.com

Finally, I would like to say thank you to 2xsalt and The Salt Mine Church for many wonderful memories and ministry opportunities to glorify God. Returning To Our Past

To the sheep under my care,

We shall rise out of the ashes to a better future! The church is not a building! We are the church, the unstoppable body of Christ! There was damage to our physical building, but no damage to the eternal temple, made for us by God himself and not by human hands.

I want to express to you the sure beauty of Sunday, August 7th. As we gathered at Jackson Park Ministry to hold church services, I could feel the Lord holding us. His presence and power was tangible through each and everyone of you. As we saw each other, hugs lasted a little longer, fellowship was so much sweeter! We were connected in and through Christ, who is the Father of us all. We truly were his children loving each other in the power of His Spirit.

What is the Lord doing?
I feel deep in my heart as your pastor that we are returning to our past to see clear our future. There are times in a churches history, in fact, there are times in a persons life, that all seems to be going backwards, when in fact, it is going forward. God is never caught by surprise and His plans for us are always greater than our own. In Acts 2:42 it reads,they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. We have the chances, Salt Mine Church, to truly live and walk in this scripture, while our physical building is being restored.

What will we do?
We will gather more strongly around the word. We will read it and allow it to read us. We will fellowship more closely than we ever have before. We will be breakers of bread to the lost and hurting around us like never before. We will pray together in the power of unity. God still has a direction for us and we will simply follow and rejoice!

What next?
Once we finish our current series, a new one will begin dealing with the subject of the body of Christ (the church) and why it is important. The Lord placed this series on my heart a month ago and once again, He knows the future and what we need to hear. I can’t wait to preach it. Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Have you seen these three lions?

Three lions to watch out for are greed, lust, and power. They can be seen following each and every one of us. They wait for the right opportunity to pounce, and devour. What sets the perfect stage for them to pounce and devour? The perfect stage is set when we become unfocused in our mission in the here and now.

The mission I’m speaking of is, the mission of walking as an alternate community of believers, shaping the world with the virtues of the future kingdom. It is only when I become more self-focused that I find the three lions breathing down the back of my neck. Greed is not a virtue of the future kingdom but it’s so easy to want things I don’t need. Lust is not a virtue of the future kingdom but it’s so easy to lust for the forbidden. Power is not a virtue of the future kingdom but it sets itself up as a must have in this world.

What is the future kingdom? It is a kingdom that is now but not yet. It is a kingdom where God is all and all and His glory fills the earth. I choose this day and each day to walk in the kingdom future now! In doing so, greed, lust, and power are three lions that will soon starve to death.

Someone I Care About Got Run Over By A Train

When I feel frustrated, I know deep inside, where my proverbial freight train, (without brakes) will it end up. I (my train) will react by dumping my explosive, held-back emotions, on others I care about the most. Trust me…it’s not a pretty sight. It’s like you can see the train in slow motion leaving the tracks because it took the turn to fast. It begins to tip over (No Superman around to help) and clears the landscape of anything in its path. At this point, the only thing that can stops it is nothing. It just simply and finally comes to a stop all by itself. Everyone who sees what just happened can’t believe what they just witnessed. Noting is left to do now but try and recover any good that remains.

I can’t speak for you but I’ve been there many times in my life. Those moments you wish you could take back. Moments you wish you had never caused or been part of. But alas, moments of train wrecks occur from time to time and such is life. What could have been done to avoid the crash? Can we (I) ever avoid not having another derailment? I know these question have answers, though they possibly could be answered in many different ways. I’m not here to say I have the answers for you but I truly desire to find the answers for me and my life…for the sake of others…those I love and respect.

For me, I simply trace the trail back to the begin and look for where I could have done better maintenance. I look for wounded moments that I left unchecked, thinking they will never surface from my secret hiding place! I say to myself, “I can handle these wounds alone, they will hurt no one else.” However, I Know deep down that all I’m doing is simply lying to myself, they will hurt others if I don’t do something with them.

What then should I have done with the wounded moments that can grow into destructive seeds with the potential to destroy a city block? Are you ready for the answer? Well then, here it is and trust me…it’s not complicated at all. In fact, it is so simple, it is missed often in my life and maybe, just maybe…in your life as well.

The answer is a 5 minute prayer before you go into a meeting, before you go through the door of your home at the end of the day, before you meet with a friend (or anyone) that may have hard news for you to hear…whatever it may be, 5 minutes of prayer can and will keep the train from going off the tracks. I like to call it a A PACT with God. A prayer pact can save me and perhaps you a lot of heartache. I hope this helps. God bless all of you and to those I have ever wounded, please forgive me.

A Pact (The Prayer)
1 minute of Adoration- worship Him
1 minute of Penitence- ask God for forgiveness
1 Minute of Acknowledgment-that God alone is your answer
1 minute of Control-surrender all of yourself to His Lordship
1 minute of Thanksgiving- give Him thanks for a prayer He will surely answer

Are you consistently…

Are you consistently kind to others? Think about it! If I were to interview the last 100 people you have recently interacted with, would they say you’re a kind person? What percentage points would you score on kindness? Would I find out you come across more as a jerk than kind? It’s a serious question each of us as believers should ask ourselves.

I believe with all my heart that kindness, the virtue of kindness, is not taken as serious as it should be in the believers life. The reason I feel this way is because we are called to walk in the image of God before a world that desperately needs kindness. As one writer has said, “Kindness is one of the purest forms of the imitation of God.” We, at times, can be so quick to make bitter and sharp remarks toward other people because of all the frustration each of us carries on a daily basis. However, we must never use others as a relief for our own frustrations by being a jerk with our speech toward them.

How in the world would you and I ever trust or walk with God if He treated us that way. How would we feel if God made condescending remarks to our face? How would we feel if when we were sharing some exciting news about good things we are involved in, and then God said something that belittled or took lightly the value? What would our prayers and worship be like if we thought God was talking about us behind our back, or didn’t really care about what we were excited about?

I tell you how we would feel! We would feel like we could not trust God. Therefore, the question that each of us needs to ask ourselves, is…how do people feel about us if that’s what we’re like? As one writer has concluded,”Wouldn’t it be better in every way to be like God?”
